Gazi Metal, which exports the products produced in its modern and full integrated facility, which is found Karasu county Sakarya province, to nearly 50 countries including Amerika, Brazil, Canada, France, Germany, has become an international brand of which is proud of in Turkey with its production quality and export figures increasing steadily.

 

Gazi Metal, an affiliate of the Gazioglu family, name of which is mentioned equally with the sector due to the investments in the steel sector they have been active for 97 years, strengthened its position as a global brand in the steel sector with high technology production facility built on an area of 180.000 m2 in 2014. We talked about the adventure and works of the family filled with success in the iron and steel sector for 97 years with Mehmet Gazioglu, Vice President of Gazi Metal , who said ‘As Gazioglu family, we will continue our investments in order to contribute to Turkish economy and to strengthen our international power in this sector.’

 

Mr. Gazioglu, you have been operating in the iron and steel sector for almost a century. Your activities have the same depth with development process of sector in Turkey. How did this happen?

 

 

 

Activities of our family in the iron and steel sector begun in 1927. In those years, family elders made sale and did marketing of iron and steel they imported in the country. We carried on these activities continued for many years by establishing the first galvanizing line in the private sector of Turkey in Çayırova/Gebze in 1967. In 2001 we took over Ferga Metal Industry established with partnership of Dutch company Ferco BV and Gazi Metal in 1998. In 2004 Gazi Metal Mamulleri Inc. took its current company structure.

 

The facility which is found in Karasu/Sakarya is an important investment from the point of Turkey and also an example investment in terms of sector. Would you give us information about the facility?

 

 

Our facility was established on an area 180.000 m2 including 100.000 m2 closed area. It is a facility operating with full-automation control in Industry 4.0 with 250 employees. We produce cold rolled and hot acidified steel. Gas rate arising from 8 chimneys of our factory being completely nature friendly is less than one percent. It’s almost liquid.

 

You are an example with social responsibility projects you take place as a company. What are you doing in these matters?

 

We are a family that believes everything is beautiful when shared. With our moral and material accumulations we believe wholeheartedly that we have the responsibility to our society and our country. For this reason, we take part in the social responsibility projects as much as possible. There are studies we have done with Sakarya University, Duzce University and Istanbul Technical University. Furthermore, we participate in local and international art and sport activities as supporter. We especially take part in activities of disadvantaged groups (village schools, disabled people, women, relatives of martyrs and veterans, refugees, immigrants etc.), educational institutions and traditional celebrations.
