Gazi Metal, which has been operating for 97 years and starts full capacity production with this year, exports %25 of its annual production. Mehmet Gazioglu, Vice President of Gazi Metal, who stated that they carried out the first steel import of Turkey in 1927 said ‘The first galvanizing line of Turkey was established by expanding its activities at the national and international level and moving its center to Istanbul in 1967. It became one of the important private enterprises that contributed to the improvement of the iron and steel industry with the investments and initiatives made in the development process of our country.’ Gazioglu, who informed that Mustafa Gazioglu established his own company ‘Gazi Metal’ in 1987, states ‘Under the name of Gazi Metal , we import flat steel with warehouses in Karakoy and Gebze. In 1998 a steel service center investment was made in the port area of Gebze. In 2000 the processes of investment, quality, institutionalization and branding were accelerated and in 2008 a cold rolling mill facility was decided to be established in the direction of the expectation of quality and service in the market. The facility, construction of which started in 2011, was completed in 2014.’

      Gazioglu, who stated that new facility was located on the land of 200.000 square meters in Organized Industrial Zone of Karasu county, Sakarya province which is determined as domestic car and domestic defense industry base, said that it is one of the biggest industrial investments in Sakarya. Gazioglu told that the Karasu Rolling Mill Facility, established completely with national capital, had a very strategic location by the reason of the international port to be opened at the end of this year, Yavuz Sultan Selim Bridge linking road and the central place between Eregli and Korfez located on the Karadeniz Railway Project. Mehmet Gazioglu, who remarked that Gazi Metal Karasu Facility had been new cold rolling mills facility built in Turkish iron and steel sector, expressed ‘Our investment was built in the direction of a 100-years plan. In this direction it is planned as three-stages.  It is planned as producing hot rolled and pickled (HRP) and cold rolled (CR) flat steels, which are called commercial products required by the steel industry, by focusing on quality in the first-stage investment, increasing the existing capacity in the second-stage investment, making a galvanizing line investment in the intermediary stage and focusing on production of silica electric steel in the third-stage investment.

‘We are the fastest supplier of flat steel industry making delivery.’

      Gazioglu, who said that they have continuous pickling line with 500 thousand tons capacity, cold rolling line with 350 thousand tons capacity and temper, rolling and annealing lines with 400 thousand tons capacity in a full capacity production stage of the investment, expressed that the first roll production was made in 2014 and test and quality studies were done in 2015. Mehmet Gazioglu, who informed that infrastructure and technology of Gazi Metal Karasu Facility investment were built on the purpose of meeting quality expectancy in the market, fast delivery demand, need for pre-sales and after-sales

support, said ‘For this purpose all stages from production to supply chain processes are designed as speed-oriented with zero defect principle. Automation, field efficiency, technology used in interprocess and supply chain services are planned to produce and deliver rapidly in terms of software, personnel and equipment. Entrance and exit times including loading and unloading of vehicles are 4-7 minutes.

Considering the strategic position we have today and the processes of order, delivery, production and sales, domestic and foreign delivery times are above the delivery averages offered by our country’s iron and steel industry. A new model imagined by Turkish industry in flat steel was created.’ Gazioglu, who stated that they produced steel having quality beyond the customer’s expectations, said ‘to our customer we produce steel having quality beyond their expectations.
